  1. When I use dvd2one to backup and toast to burn a dvd onto a dvd-r the movie plays in one of my two standalone dvd players. So I thought that my one player could not play dvd-rs, because it is a little bit old (like 4 years).

But When I make a movie with IDVD it plays plays fine in that problem player. which means it can play dvd-rs just fine.

I assume I am using dvd2one and toast properly because the dvd-rs play in other standalone players. So why won't it play in the one player?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I also have not had luck using popcorn either

    five questions:

    1. Have you checked the Players link on the left to see
if any other users report problems with your problematic stand alone?

    2. What burning speed are you burning your dvds at?
some older players like dvds burned at 1x speed, rather than 4x or 8x.

    3. Are all your burns ( idvd or Toast) containing AUDIO_TS folders in
the authoring? Again, older players look for this folder.

    4. What type of media are you using? Have you tried burning to -RW and testing in your problematic stand alone?

    5. Whch versions of MTR, DVD2ONEX, and TOAST are you using?

post back and I'll try and help.

  3. Answers:

    1. I'll have to see the back of the player to check the model

    2. I had been doing 4 but I tried 2 once but it didn't work. I'll have to try 1 just in case. I think the IDVD movies I played succesfully are from my work on a 1x burner.

    3. Yes. the do include a AUDIO_TS folder

    4. I'm using a spindle 4x sony dvd-r to burn

    5. DVD2one 1.42 i think and Toast 6 titanium and I also tried the new roxio popcorn which burns it .

Thanks for the help. I'll try buring a 1x to see if there is a difference. Could it be the newer 4x burner that comes with the mac?

possibly, but if the player was made prior to 2002,
chances are more likely its going to be the burn speed.
Also, are the movies burned at work at 1x on sony
media as well, or another brand?

    godd luck!

  5. The 1x burn with the sony media did not work. And no I think at work I used apple media and fuji at work. I'll have to try one of those media to see if that makes a differnce. Either that or just by a new player.

    my guess is this:
Apple Media, 1x speed will work fine.

Sony media I haven't had ANY luck with,
and lots of others have reported mixed results.
