    Hello all.

I'm totally new to this converting gig. I have looked around on different sites and spoken to a few friends who sometimes do this sort of thing. I get recommended all different types of conversion tools.

I'm hoping I can get a definitive view from you guys over which program to use for this. I haven't a clue which to go for. I want something which will convert Avi, Mpeg, DivX to DVD. And which is also free - No charge.

What is the best program to use for this?

Again, I'm an absolute, 110% newbie to this so any help would be appreciated. If you need any more information just ask and I'll provide.

    Thanks.

Another Newbie here, but check out dvd2svcd.

Has lots of built in functions and automation.

Just make sure you have lots of disk space (I ran out during a conversion).

    Good Luck.

The best program is one you pay for. Programmers have to eat and pay bills too.

  6. If you want good quality I would bite the bullet and get TMPGENC Plus. Not too expensive and will do everything you need. For the price of a few cases of beer, you can have a program that will do everything you need, just as good as anything else, with ease

For free AVI to DVD though, I would use Diko. The quality is good for being free and a monkey could work the program
