    Hello
I've been capturing vhs,8mm,s-vhs tapes, satelite tv for nearly 6 months, using settings and recommendations from this forum, and getting great results. the other day i tried to capture an old worn vhs tape. Now the playback of the tape on tv was ok i guess, but you could tell it was on it's last leg. When i tried to capture this tape, the picture on my pc screen was jumping , frames were droppping like crazy, it was not worth capturing.
When i copied it with my vhs/dvd recorder. it gave me an exact duplicate of my vhs tape, not any better, but not any worse.
Should i stick with my recorder when dealing with really old tapes?

    Whatever works.....

ATI AIW sucks for bad tapes without a TBC or similar device. www.nepadigital.com/mv

    You definitely need a TBC.

.... white feet, actually..... Smurfs wear boots

It's a tape error, setting off false MV. Cap cards often do this.
Coalman beat me to it. What he said.

What's odd is many DVD recorders do too.
