The funny thing you mentioned "Free Willy" as this U.S. VHS videotape broke and damaged in a VHS VCR.

"Free Willy" was the last tape played on that machine.

This was last year, a friend brought to me a Sony VCR as not working well and at that time the machine completely failed and full stop.

It just died on a "Free Willy" and the machine now gone into trash.

I was going to try it and get it repaired, it’s gone. Too old anyway.

This is to show that a VHS can get worn, used so much and old just like the Beta VCR.

Whether you like it or not, VHS will be history just like the Beta VCR and the LD player.

On my two Beta machines, one was working having some defects and the other not working at all except for the tuner.

They were both gone to charity with the videotapes.

I really don’t care what they would do with the machines and perhaps a Beta buff would use the parts to fix one of them?

    Hello,

VHS will still be around... Especially now that DVD recording is really catching on.... People still want to be able to play the tapes to back them up

    LP's aint dead yet.

They still offer better quality than CD, wheras VHS will -never- offer better quality than DVD.

Mybe not, but there's something to be said about movies on VHS.

Beside, it not gone yet. I can still get them at Blockbuster. Although my Blockbuster sucks, really small, not a very good selection of anything.

So I go to this new place, Hollywood Video, there has tons of VHS.

It's Circuit City, Best Buy, and Kmart that no have VHS anymore.

And a broken VHS isnt hard to fix. If you know what you looking at when you remove the lid, it simple. My dad is good at the electrical, I good at the mechanical, together we get it back together.
One rule with VHS: Never forcefully remove a jammed cassette! It will damage the cassette carriage! I can't beleive how many people permanent damage the tape machine with too much force!

    Hello,

Yep - simplicity is the main benefit of VHS. How many people can play a videotape??? EVERYONE. How many can play a dvd??????? Um... How many still have a blinking 12:00 on their vcrs???
