If you did a data back up of video files (mpegs etc) and audio files (mp3s) onto DVD media, would you be inclined to keep the original on your hard drive or would it be safe to delete the files on the hard drive to free up more hard-drive space ?

Personally, if it's something that I can't afford to lose I make two or even three backups before I erase the data from my harddrive. If the data is really critical (like backups of home DV tapes), you may consider keeping a backup copy at another location.
