lordsmurf wroteAnd if you want a better "reader" drive, buy a freaking ROM. Burners are not meant to be "reader" drives. They are "writer" drives.![]()
next time read my computer specs. I have many dvdroms. be a man and owe up to your misinformation........all my dvd burners use NERO 6 without any problems......it's you that seems to have problems with it.....
lordsmurf wroteSure make a list of drives that would be helpful for others just like your nomorecoasters website that really doesn't mean much. Sorry but just because you're now a mod on this site it doesn't mean much to me. Your condscending behavior is quite a nuisance. As I have said, post correct information to others instead of misleading ones. You have a good way of brushing others off when you're called on the carpet.would you like a bigger list of drives that don't produce 100% perfect DVD-Video discs in Nero 6, with full abilities? I'm sure I could make one.![]()

You've not "called" anything on the carpet:
- Nero 6 is crap. Regardless of drive.
- Threads are not locked for the reasons you stated.
- Should I ever need BenQ help, I'll contact you.
- The "reader" comment is unrelated to your specs.
- If you don't like my information, don't read it.

LG and LITEON are great drives.
NEC is a decent drive, I guess. Not my favorite AT ALL. It has far too many media issues for me. It has ALWAYS been this way for NEC drives. I don't like super-picky drives.
LG and Liteon GREAT!?! - They define average
NEC many media issues, super picky? What the hell are you talking about? This is such a load of shet it's not even funny, what's your motivation for making up such BS?
I've used so many different types of media on my NECs, from good to bad to ugly it's not even funny. And with all but the PUREST of CRAP, NEC drives burn EXTREMELY Well. How the F is this 'super-picky'??? I'd like to have you describe to me what 'media issues' and 'super-picky' mean in your mind. My NECs have basically only failed to give me good burns on old Optodisc -R discs, known crap, and maybe two generic media codes. Even terribly shitty generic media burns completely with my NECs, where it won't even burn completely on other drives, and with errors ten times the rate of the NEC burns. They have burned all known quality media that I've used with them flawlessly, with low errors and extremely rarely do I ever see a coaster or anything remotely close to it with known quality media. And with average media and generic crap that many other drives simply cannot create anything other than coasters with, the NEC burns almost all of this stuff without any coasters.
And this is not just my experience with NEC, that's the KNOWN consensus of NEC drives, which is just the opposite of what you continually claim about NEC drives. What do you base your great 'knowledge' of NEC drives being super picky and full of media issues, a Ouija board? -
NEC almost always requires hacked firmwares to get it to cooperate decently.

Garbage, I've been using the OEM drive with the original firmware for months. It burns flawlessly every time. You don't even own one, how can you know what it will and won't do.

I used my 1300 for a LONG time without hacked firmware, and it performed just as well with most media, hacked firmware even back then mostly benefited the shetty generic media, to allow it to burn better and faster. The official firmware works well with mainstream media fine, and most generic stuff as well. With hacked firmware, the drives are the most accepting drives on the market. Hacked firmware can take what's already a great drive, and make it nearly perfect, what's so bad about that? I've flashed many, many times at this point, even changed two of my drives into another 'model', without ANY issues whatsoever, and if I ever did have any issue, NECs can easily be reverted back to their original FW, so even your warranty is not really at stake.
You're grasping at straws if you try to use firmware as an excuse, and it's pathetic. NEC drives work great with official firmwares, awesome with modified ones. MANY NEC users have never changed their firmware and have had great success with their drives, upgrading the firmware of ANY drive will of course increase its abilities. -
I beg to differ, Lordsmurf. The NEC drives are probably the LEAST media-picky of any drives currently on the market. And oh yeah, how can you say that NEC drives are crap when PIONEER uses their chipsets??? Go figure...
As for LiteONs being good, what utter rubbish! You want an example? Try burning ANY media at 12x or 16x on one of their latest drives with stock (or even hacked) firmware. Compare the burn quality with a PIONEER or NEC. 'Nuff said.

Have 3 NEC Drives, all behave better than the liteon.
Even my NEC DVD ROM even deals with more media types than the Liteon 16X burner (or the SONY DRU that failed)
The 2 Burners (the 2500A and the 3500A) are dealing with every meddia type off the shelf, unlike the Liteon or Sony examples
You, LORDSMURF, on the other hand have HACKED your RECORD NOW software to get your drives to work..
I know NERO 6 is not a perfect expression of code , but it sure beats RECORD NOW 6 or hacking 4.5!! -
The NEC 3500 and the BENQ 1620 are both good drives, actually unless you get a defective one, you probably wont notice a huge difference unless you live and die by nero scans like the psychos at cdfreaks.com.
COPIED OVER 600 DVDS SO FAR
