    Can someone tel me the best programs to keep pcs in good health so far i got:

    Disk Keeper
    Mem Turbo
    Tune Up Utitilities
    Registry Mechanic
    Pest Patrol
    Spy Bot S&D
    Hijack This
    and Avast Anti Virus

    Anyone know anything better??

    Also i can imagine why anti viruses wld need to be updated but why programs like tune up utuilities and disk keeper?? and pest patrol??

    You can replace all of your spyware apps with Spyware Sweeper. Very good app.

    You don't need mem turbo

    I like Raxco Perfect Disk as a defrag app, because it has a feature to defrag your pagefile and reg files while the system is booting. Sysinternals.com has a free app to do the same thing, however.

    Look for an app called RDILLY to back up your registry files.

    Don't do too many registry cleanings. They can remove good stuff as well as bad.

    thanks for the reply but why would such software as disk keeper and spyware removers need to be updated??

    Defragmenting Apps need to be updated usually because of bug fixes

    Spyware Apps need upadting because new spyware is created every day

    I use NORTON SYSTEM WORKS in conjunction with ADAWARE. Oh and on XP service pack 2

    dont install a lot of apps like you did up there in the first post .. mare damage than good --

    a spyware program, a virus program, and a defrag --

    You a norton basher like a microsoft basher is?????

    I've been using NORTON for years with no problems - on win 95, 98, 2000 and now XP - love it

    And I also use ADAWARE

    norton has saved many hard drives for me in the past. I use NSW 2003 and NAV corporate

    Norton ANYTHING gets 2 up in my book

    Kev dont take this personal but i aint a big norton fan myself.

    I admit its a very good virus scan.

    But my history of using norton is a bad past lol

    Windows wouldn't start and in the end had to go into safe mode to uninstall it, installed it again about 1 yr later and did the same thing but i dunno maybe i had some dodgy files in the system folder.

    I installed norton anti virus.

    ask most system admins ... can really screw up a lot of things


    norton ghost is ok though
