All I can say is when I use ANYDVD and CLONEDVD I made a full with back up with out any problems.
If people still want to use DVDSHRINK I say use ANYDVD and CLONEDVD rip 8.5 to get rid of the dummy files on the disc and then use DVDSHRINK once the DVD has been cleaned. -

All I know is what I reported - that I did a clean install of WinXP SP2, put in DVD Decrypter, and successfully ripped The Incredibles several times over. I also ripped it with DVD Shrink, all by itself.
There's NOTHING on that disc. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
Hell, I'll try it AGAIN and let it run 100% and do a full Shrink on it, just to humor you. How's that? -
Good God, I just reread your post. What am I doing?
I'm arguing with someone who claims that some mythical DVD copy protection, DURING THE RIPPING PROCESS, rendered his Windows XP unbootable.
You seriously think that a DVD COPY PROTECTION SCHEME corrupted your system files?
What are you smoking? -
"Gurm" well maybe some of the copys have the new copy protection. Look at Resident Evil: Apocalypse some people did not have a problem with it. Also some factories where the DVDs are made might be different. Who knows. Take this in to consideration you did not rip the saome DVD as I ripped yes they are the same movie but not the same disc. maybe it had a burn error on it who knows. But my Windows XP died with ANYDVD and DVDSHRNK.

I would just like to add that I too... have no problems ripping any of the aforementioned titles using DVDShrink. I did run into a problem with Ray when the transcode began, but I disabled the preview window and everything was dandy. I had no other programs running at the time to assist in the rip/transcode, and I was backing up the entire disc (menus, features, and movie).

You have retrograde hardware, and you should really address that. It has NOTHING to do with the disc. Go on - open up the disc, all you'll see are a VIDEO_TS folder and an AUDIO_TS folder. Nothing else.
IT IS JUST NOT POSSIBLE THAT A DISC DESTROYED YOUR SYSTEM DURING A READ OPERATION. -

i figured it out to get the 5 second black screens gone, was to use dvd2one,and remove the weird 0meg cells that it had on it.
or another way is to use vobblanker, that wipes them, and then shrink or dvd2one.
but as for discs killing hardware, then thats pure BS.
although it seems that sytem restore didnt work for you, lol.
but as for the incredibles, gurms right, theres nothing on it that causes a problem,region1,and region 2 have ripped fine.LifeStudies 1.01 - The Angle Of The Dangle Is Indirectly Proportionate To The Heat Of The Beat,Provided The Mass Of The Ass Is Constant. -

"RottenFoxBreath" I'm not making it but my system locked. the speaker made a cracking sound nothing would work. I reboot put in the Windows XP CD and try to fix the files that got messed up. Windows XP CD could not fix the problem. So I format the hard drive every thing is working fine now.

it couldnt have been a power spike,spiderman2k1,could it?what with the crackling speaker.or outdated firmware on the writer/reader.LifeStudies 1.01 - The Angle Of The Dangle Is Indirectly Proportionate To The Heat Of The Beat,Provided The Mass Of The Ass Is Constant. -
"RottenFoxBreath" could be I was think the same thing I might have to flash the firmware again on my LG burner. I'll say one thing I think we all have had weird PC problems. That are just weird.
-
yeh shit sure happens, and sometimes, just plain weird.
one other thing, was autoplay off on the pc,thats the only other things i can think of,as i havent had any problems with the incredibles, both region 1 and 2.
i used a pioneer 108,older 1.14 firmware from last year, and dvddecrypter 3.5.2.0,and dvd2one,vers. 1.4.0,1.4.1,1.5.0,and 1.5.2.LifeStudies 1.01 - The Angle Of The Dangle Is Indirectly Proportionate To The Heat Of The Beat,Provided The Mass Of The Ass Is Constant. -
"RottenFoxBreath" Yes the autoplay was off. I install VMWARE and it ask you to turn off autoplay so I click yes and that was may be a four days ago. I just flash my LG burner with the same firmware it had before.
Before X-mess I was playing withmy PC and I plug in the power in the power and the PC turned of. But nothing broke. Some thing in the mothe board has a safty settings. Maybe the firmware got messed up. I stop burning DVDs while. The only burning I was doing was on my E80 Panasonic dvd recorder. And really have not burned any thing on the PC for about two month yes some thing here and there but thats about it. I hope its a firmware problem. just flashed I'll post back if there any more problems. -
If you're ripping JUST the movie you will never encounter this protection, the protection is in the "full disc" structure.

Sorry.!!! Wrong post earlier.

I'm interesting for the Quality Only for my movie and that is the reason that i at 90% rip only Main Movie. So if i can pass the protection too is the best result.
Sorry for my English.OLYMPIAKOS F.C. FOR EVER -
Well, i did both flight of the phoenix & the incredibles, both full disc and just movie, no problems what so ever
1: Ripped both with DVD Decrypter,
2: shrank with DVD Shrink
3: burned with Nero
no other programs at all no problems at all!!!!! -

But the quote above ... that was good info .... question is ... was it real ??
When all the huubla came out about ... The Forgotten ... that was depressing ... and how long was that ?? It's been a few weeks huh ?? Well I've still got it ripped in full glory on my computer ... I haven't deleted it yet. I'm going to try that solution with DVD2one now and THE FORGOTTEN ... and see what happens.
P.S. ... I'm going to post a post about the Panasonic E50S and the Pioneer 220-S ... I found something to bitch about. The Panasonic E50S does win points in one area. -
well, for resident evil, one of the offending cells, was actually the first small 3 mins section of the opening titles /scenes.
if you delete it,the film starts as jill walks to the police station, leave it in and it begins, well, right at the beginning.
the other 10 or so,were blanked out by vobblanker,so they had 0meg file sizes, without vobblanker, they were stupid sizes.
after they were gotten rid off,it played perfectly.with them left in,it was about 5 mins before the movie started.
same with layer cake, that was about 7 mins actually.
dvd2one version 1.52 increases its abilities with sonys new protection.
^^this has worked on version 1.40,1.50.and 1.51.
like i say,vers.1.52 is improved.LifeStudies 1.01 - The Angle Of The Dangle Is Indirectly Proportionate To The Heat Of The Beat,Provided The Mass Of The Ass Is Constant. -
"New and IMPROVED horse shit 1.52! Unlike 1.50 and 1.51, which dumped horse shit on you AND kicked you in the nuts, this one JUST dumps horse shit on you!"
Am I being unreasonable comparing DVD2One to horse shit? Maybe. Maybe it's just the guys who WRITE DVD2One that are horse shit. -

Glad you brought your avatar back... i was missing it there for a little while
Can't have Gurm giving you shit without that face looking and pointing at you just would not be right!!!!!!!
I remember asking you in one post but never heard or saw anything for awhile -
Yeah I went incognito for a while - events in "real life" intruded and I dropped off the face of the IntarWeb for a few months. In that time, the place where I hosted my avatar and signature pics got zapped, and when I started logging back in here I didn't even notice - I seldom look at my posts once they're done, I just hit submit and then back twice really fast.

THANK GOD, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who has had this problem....
I ran a thread recently in the newbie forum area that mentioned how I had succumbed to what I think is the new Macrovision RipGuard scheme:
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1254621#1254621
Not one person believed me...I was told various things, from my hardware having compatibility issues to the software being corrupted. The issue, however seems to go beyond that. As I mentioned in my post, if you play the movie on your computer, the windows file structure is altered so that any program trying to copy a DVD locks up. If you never play the movie? You will have no problems with it - DVDDecrypter will work just fine.
I verified this recently, by taking the same disc that caused me no end of problems and played it using Nero Showtime on 2 other computers at work (why ruin mine again?). Both came up with the same problem. And tonight, I put the COPY that I made with DVDDecrypter in my computer to reencode for playing on my Dell X50V...I played the file, thinking that DVDDecrypter would have removed the protection scheme and I'd be okay. Guess what???? Protection scheme is still there!!!! It screwed up my computer and I had to do another reformat.
If you look at how the scheme works:
http://www.macrovision.com/products/ripguard/images/UniqueDigitalFramework_large.jpg
you will notice that the protection scheme is embedded in the VOB files. Don't play 'em, you won't get burned.
However, in order to test GURM's theory, I went back to Blockbuster and rented another copy of the movie...THIS ONE HAS NO PROTECTION SCHEME ON IT, and it works fine. So it seems that there are some discs that have the scheme, and some that don't.
So as far as I'm concerned, RipGuard is here...and it's pretty darn sneaky. If you never have this problem, consider yourself lucky. If a mime falls in an empty forest, and it doesn't make a sound, does anyone really care?
