I was surfing amazon.com and saw they had a 1.5 gb mp3 player for $99.99 after $30.00 rebate. I am tempted to buy this, as it looks like a good price. Anybody have any experience with this player/company?

It looks like pretty much a "no name company".
Go with an Ipod....you won't regret it.

Whatever you do, stay away from the Samsung yepp. I, unfortunately, have their 128 MB model (YP-T5H), and it's a piece of crap. I bought it basically as a lecture recorder, and when I max out the memory -- which is only 120 MB b/c the firmware takes up 8 MB -- the drive get a File System Error, and I have to format my drive to make it usable again (thus losing all the data).

The only reason I keep this POS is b/c I got it for half B&M retail price ($70 CDN when I saw it advertised for $139 before tax)

    PROs:

Small size (but who really cares?)
    It has a carrying case

    CONs:

It EATS batteries & not rechargeable.
only ~120 MB of space, not 128 (8 MB = 15-20 mins, roughly, of voice recording)
When memory is maxed out, the unit cannot be read by a PC (I've tested on 2)
It's not as easy to use as others I've used
    Not expandable w/ memory cards

There's prolly more cons that I can't think of

Conclusion: Utter POS, which is surprising b/c I tend to find Korean products to be pretty good.

If anyone's looking for a lecture recorder, get at least 256 MB -- which is ~14-16 hrs. This 128 MB yepp can only hold about 7.28 hours, so I have to transfer all my files everyday.

    PPL say no to IPODS.

Ipods are expensive and they don't worth all that money. Go with creative, archos, iriver, dell or rio. There are so many alternatives out there, that are cheaper and do much more than an ipod. I take the train every morning for about 1h 20mins and most people out there are with ipods (every other person actually). They make me sick. Be original, when you spend that much money, wouldn't you want something that not many people have? I bought archos gmini400 and I love it.

Sry, If I upset anyone. It's just when I hear about ipods, I get really fired up.

    Fight the power!

Yeah I mean sure APPLE was the first to go really big with the harddrive players but what's the big deal now???? You can probably get a multimedia player that does video also for not much more money

Ipods are expensive and they don't worth all that money.
They aren't much more than the other competitors' equivalent. Alot of those cheap ones don't have half the options/support that an Ipod has.

Go with creative, archos, iriver, dell or rio.
If you want mediocre products, sure.
Creative would be the best of the bunch.
The rest you have listed are cheap because they aren't good.

Be original, when you spend that much money, wouldn't you want something that not many people have?
    No.
Who cares what everyone else has.
I believe in getting the most for my money and spent months researching and testing portable mp3 players. The 20 GB Ipod was far superior, I found....taking into consideration options/support/price etc...

Edit:I just looked at the price of those Archos Gmini400 and they are more expensive than an Ipod.

    .
How are all those companies mediocre? Why aren't they good? What makes an ipod so much better than all of them????????????????????

GMINI400 is more expensive but look at all the things it does, that 20gb ipod can't. You get a color screen, video support and photos straight from a card. GMINI400 enterface is also a lot better than ipod's. It's like windows where you can create, move and delete stuff. What months of research and testing???????? That's just ridiculous. I had the first generation ipod and it was very nice, but it's nothing special now considering all of the other options.

  9. I really like my Lexar Jumpgear mp3 player. I have a 512 Flash drive, which I use alot for putting docs and stuff on. But now I can also put my music on it and then plug it into the Jumpgear mp3 player and I'm ready to go. The 512 model holds 120 songs and the 1 GB holds 240. Personally I really like this because:
    A. Its small
    B. no special cords needed, just a usb port for the flash drive, no drivers either
    C. Flash Tech, no moving parts less chance of something breaking

You can get the Jumpgear mp3 player on amazon for $35, and if you do some shopping around the Lexar 512 Jumpdrive should only cost you $40 so the whole thing only costs $75.
