I rented The Notebook a couple of days ago, and I noticed that the outside about half inch of the disc on the widescreen/special features side looks all pitted or something. Sure enough it had problems on playback on both my players. I took it back to exchange for another one and it was even worse. Is it just a bad batch of discs or are they all like that? Does anyone have the DVD? If so is the widescreen side all pitted on the outside? I was thinking of buying the movie as a gift for someone, but I don't want to give them a defective disc. I've never seen a factory disc that looked like the 2 I got from the rental place do.

I have the disc, it looks normal on both sides, since you mentioned it, I gave it a good hard look, but see no difference than any other DVD that I own. Also, it played fine.
