  1. I have an mpeg file that is 698mb when I check the properties on it. When I loaded it into Tmpgenc it only wants to encode 4 minutes of the file. I checked the file in AVIcodec and here are the stats:

    File : 698 Mb (37 Mb), duration 0:03:50, type MPG, 1 audio stream(s), quality 77 %

    Video : 31 Mb, 1150 Kbps, 29.970 fps, res. 352*240 (4:3), MPG1 = MPEG 1 (VCD), Supported

    Audio : 6.14 Mb, 224 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 chan., 0x51 = Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0], Supported

I see it says 31mb but then how is the file 698mb. How can I fix this file so I can run it through Tmpgenc then make it a dvd? Thx

  2. Thx for the reply. I have been reading for a few days, I tried using vcdgear to fix the mpeg errors still no luck. I tried the MPEG header correction program and no luck. Not sure what else to do. I'm going to try a simple de-multiplex with tmpg and see if that helps, not sure if thats the problem.

  3. Now I'm going to encode the .m1v and the .mp2 to get an mpeg file but its gonna take about 8 hours I hope this will work. If someone knows for sure that it will or wont work pls let me know so I can stop the encode thx.

There shouldn't be a need to re-encode, you should just be able to remultiplex them (I think it's called Simple Multiplex), also in TMPGEnc's MPEG Tools
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. Nope when I did the simple multiplex it said something about a buffer overflow and the mpeg might not play correctly and when I checked it with AVIcodec its back to the same size problem You think the re-encode will work? I need it to be compliant for DVD anyways so there has to be some encoding done somewhere.

  6. Also as I'm encoding now it shows 126,000 frames total but before when it would only do 4 mins of the file it showed around 6500 frames. So you think my problem is solved? Once the file is complete I'm going to use tmpg dvd author to make my dvd.

If it's vcd compliant then all you have to touch is the audio, which TDA and other authoring programs can fix automatically for you

Maybe try importing the M1V and the MP2 straight into your authoring software ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  8. When I put the M1V and MP2 into TDA it showed as a 4 min file The file is originally an hour. Man I thought you were onto something there, in my head I was like sweet great idea.

You have a vcd mpg file with errors,do a search for tools that fix this problem,if you cant fix it then its best to nuke it.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

Nope didnt work. Once it got to the 4 min mark in Tmpg it went black while encoding.
