Well this is a computer i have had for near 1.5 to 2 years and once in a while i would wake up in the morning or even when i am working on certain software the computer would just restart on its on for no reason. Well my hd went out 3 weeks ago and had to get a new on ...... so i install all my stuff back and now it did it again.... first time it happen i left sony vegas 5 and the manual in acrobat up. The second time i left macromedia flash up over nite and when i get up the computers booted up automatically. I remeber when my old hd went out somebody told me that was the sign of a bad hd when the computer just start reseting on its on..... man What the hells is going on????????

  2. It could be overheating. Try blowing out all the dust with a can of air. Make sure all the fans are working. If you don't have small kids or pets running around you could leave the side of the computer case off to get even better air circulation.

    We have the same problem. One of our PCs is old and
    was ALWAYS rebooting. Here are some of the things we did:

    New power supply
    Re-seat the memory
    Blow out the dust
    Re-seat all cards
    Defrag the drive
    Re-install operating system
    Re-install IE because we thought that was the problem
    Install Windows 2000 (remember, this is an old machine)

    Installing Win 2000 was a HUGE success. Only had a few re-boots since then.
    When I found the info in the link today we disabled auto-reboot. We'll
    see what happens when we leave the PC on overnight.

    Maybe your problem will help us too!

    If you are still having problems after a fresh install, it could mean a bad/failing PSU.
    Some people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think.
