  1. I have a G5 and need to make a dvd with menus for a friend.

    I'm being supplied with the DVD and need to extract the movie from it - (only 3 min long) then complie a DVD with nice menus.


    please help!!

    Is this DVD a commercial DVD?

    What software do you have (DVDSP, iDVD)?

    Do you have a DVD Burner?

    These are details we need to know.

  3. I have an internal dvd writer on my g5.

    I'll buy whatever software I need

    Its not a commericial dvd - it was copied onto a dvd from a vhs

    You will need MacThe Ripper if it has any copyguard on it and you will need Toast or Popcorn. MacTheRipper is freeware toast and popcorn you will need to buy.

    Get Cinematize or DVDxDV to extract the footage and use iDVD to create a new DVD with your own menu.

    If you plan using the software you are about to purchase for more than this project or if you simply don't have any problem spending the exrta $ for DVD Studio Pro 3, Then that's the way to go. At least for the authoring portion.
    A picture is worth a thousand words, but a good camera is worth about a thousand bucks.
