I got a pair of Nike Shox for $100 they are £130 over here !!!

and a pair of Timberlands for $80!!!!! which are again £130 over here.

I cannot get over how much we get ripped off over here.

I agree. I hate having to buy New Balance shoes for ~$60, made in China, and fall apart after a year or two. I never wear them out, they always fall apart! I figure it's probably OK to go to WalMart and get a pair of made in China shoes for ~$20 and it falls apart, but they don't carry my size (US 6.5 EEEE ~ 38-39 extra extra extra extra wide to you Europeans).

Same in US, paying the tax. Many things are advertised for free every week in the paper, but you have to purchase it first at full price and pay the tax. Averages 8 weeks for the check I believe. I have never seen a rebate of any type reimburse the taxes paid. But, I also have not seen the rate at 15%, highest I have personally seen was 10%, but is usually closer to 8%.

Still going strong and look exactly the same as the ones you buy in a normal shop for about $100.

Factory outlets the way to go. Just got 2 pairs of Rockports, retail $100 each pair, paid $120 for both pairs. $80 for the 1st pair, half off the second, what a deal.

I got a shed load of stuff from their factory outlet in Manchester, VT for around 300$. I'd have paid that much alone for the waterproof jacket over here.

It was last years stuff in the US which makes it this years in the UK - all in all, my $300 purchase was worth about £500.

Added to which, I bought a Toshiba Satelite laptop in Circuit City for about $1600 which was worth £1300 in PC World here.

Added to which, filling up a Mercury Mountaineer with 'gas' for about $30! I was crying when I left.................. though that was because the girlie spent all the savings we made on a splurge in Pottery Barn.
