I have a Plextor PX-712A and most of the time I can burn these at 12x (sometimes the drive forces an 8x burn). PIE errors tend to increase near the outer edge of the disc (but still staying well within the 280 PIE limit) although I've had a couple of burns at 12x where the max didn't go over 20 PIE. Keep in mind there may be differences in the quality of these discs depending on whether they were made by CMC Magnetics or by Prodisc.

I've burned lots of these at 12x on my Pioneer 108 using 1.14 and 1.18 firmware and Nero. They work great.
By the way, I bought a pack of the Verbatim 16x disks to try out the burner's 16x capabilities. The Pioneer won't burn them at 16x. They work great at 12x, but so do these 8x disks. -
Mawdryn the Verbatim 16x DVD-Rs should burn at 16x on your 108. Remember Pioneer drives are a bit biased toward DVD-R.
