  1. I have tried many but the only one I can find is the Divx player and for seem reason it seems to stutter alot on my Htpc.

Htpc has all the newest drivers and codecs in an effort to get less stuttering but no help.

    Htpc Specs

    P4 2.66/533
    Intel 865 Board
    768 Meg PC2700
    9600XT Video
    SB Live 5.1
1 Maxtor 40 Gig OS drive and 2 Seagate 160's
    Connected to a Nec XM29+ Monitor (800X600@85Hz)
    Running windows XP Pro SP1

I rip all Avi's with Gknot ( I am a noob, its all I know ) all have a bitrate of around .270 Bits/(Pixel*Frame) and most are about 1.5 gig after encoding into Xvid or Divx

Thanks in advance for any help I can get

I hope by "All the newest drivers and codecs" does not mean you installed some large codec pack. Install only what you need (DivX 5.2.1 would seem to be one.)

You might consider trying FFDShow for playback (I have not tried any recent builds, but it is something you could look into).

    What "players" have you tried?
MPC (use 6.4.8.2) - if yes, did you try disabling the built in filers?
    VLC
TCMP (The Core Media Player) - Advanced options allow loading/blocking of specific filters/codecs. GSpot helps in knowing what ones are needed.

Sometimes the "newest" drivers can have bugs/problems. Failing to uninstall old video drivers before installing new versions can cause problems. DriverCleaner is great for making sure you have a clean and trouble free install of new video drivers.

  3. Newest driver being the sound card, video card and divx that I could find. But none made any difference, still stutters for just a split second about every minute or so.

Some Players I have tried are

    WinDVD
    PowerDVD
    Nero Showtime
Some will allow only 2X FF and no RR at all, and other will allow no RR/FF.

Thanks for the help and the links but they do pretty much what the one above do.

    I appreciate it.

Are you playing these videos from your hard drive, or a DVD?

If playing from an optical disc, try copying and playing one from your hard drive.

I know there are some threads here that discuss a problem similar to yours (stutter every minute or so). Try doing some searches, you might find something.

    Good Luck!
