  1. I'm having problems with avidemux. It is not syning the sound with the video. the sound plays a a normal rate but the video is about twice as fast as the sound. What I'm doing is converting avi to a burnable dvd file. First I set no video or audio filters. Next I use the DVD (lavcodec) codec for video. Config: 2pass size:200mb Minrate:0 max rate: 8000 VBV buffer: DVD progressive interlacing 16:9 aspect ratio GOP size: 12 Them my audio codec is uncompressed. I check V and A process and save the video then save the audio. Next I open the video I made and use external audio that i made and save as DVD PS. this file is the one that has the video 2 times the rate of the audio.

    Thanks for any help,
    Zach

I know that when I load a mpg file it tells me how far it out of sync. I then can put that shift into the audio filter and that corrects the sync problem, To correct the audio to video synce you have to know how far its off in order to AviDeMux fix it. As of late I've been using tovid set of tools to create my dvd files.I still use AviDemux for any cutting or audio-sync of mpegs.

That means you have the very first edition of the GUI version. I've been using the command line one. It's a peice of cake to get working. At proeasent I'm using version 0.17

I've put a lot of command line macros like that one into kde service menus. Names like "convert to dvd" and "convert to svcd" so I really dont use the command line for tovid.

  8. ah doesn't matter anyways. The tovid-interactive script for this thing is so easy to use there is no need for a gui.

Yeah me too, I gave up on avidemux for now. The tovid command line is pretty easy, if your having trouble just do tovid --help to get a bunch of options for your dvds, but it does do a good job of encoding and I haven't noticed any problems.

The one thing Im curious about is when using tovid the file sizes arn't as big as you would expect. What I mean is I ran a svcd thru it to make a full size dvd the file size actually got smaller. The bit rate was at the low end of a dvd.

hm... that's strange, but I wouldn't worry about it if the quality is fine.
