    Which ever one works the best for you. Best is highly subjective. The big three are TMPGEnc, CCE, Canopus ProCoder, not necessarily in that order and only in my opinion.

    I'm kinda fond of Mainconcept, even if what I've seen in the encoder shootouts tells me otherwise (where Procoder 1.5 wins hands down). QuEnc isn't half bad either, and at its price (free!) unbeatable!

    I sometimes get lost in this debate also, and blurt out TMPGenc but..

    There really is no "best" encoder. It's rather, which can be used at its
    best. I feel TMPGenc is best because I have mastered it from a more
    experienced position, including the time I spent with it.
    .
    Other's have more time spent with CCE, and hence, you'll get a suggestion
    that CCE is best.., and Procoder is best.. etc. etc.

    But, if you ask my OP (based on my experiences) I would say that the
    following bring best quality within a margin of difference, and that includes
    factors of what users' see (or perceive) as best quality, in any order:

    * Procoder -- IMO, v1.5 is better than v2.x higher
    * CCE -- -- - based on v2.50 experience
    * TMPGenc --- Based on latest experience with v2.520

    These are your top contenders, IMO (because of my greater experience with
    them all) The more time you spend with a certain brand, the more control
    you have of it. For me, it's TMPGenc, followed by Procoder.

    * Don't forget user experience/skills/knowledge/technique, etc.
    * And last, *best* is in the eye of the beholder.
