But I will say that 2 nights ago, before I went to bed I noticed the oven was turned on, so I turned it off. My son said he woke up and went to get something to eat around 2:30 am and noticed the oven was on, so he turned it off... :? ...I asked my wife and daughter if they turned it on...they said "No".... now I don't know how it turned on all by itself but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the dog...Jesus Christ Fokker, it doesn't even have thumbs
There is only one explanation for this... the gas man. Those shady gas men hang out in closets and pantry cupboards just waiting for an opportunity to fiddle with your gas stove/refridgerator/grill...etc. Of course, if your stove is electric, this theory is shot to hell.

sure... if all the cars I see are $500, I keep looking. If they are blue, I keep looking. If theyare missing an important option, I keep looking. Once I find it, I stop.

it's the same reason that you always find your keys in the last place you look.... once you find them, you stop looking.

the questions I would ask your folks...

    - was the car they found the first one they looked at?
    - are there any details that have been left out over the years? maybe because they'd make it not as punchy a story?

Reminds me of a Jeff Foxworthy joke:
Of course it's there in the last place you looked or you would have looked there first.

    "Have you found your keys?"
"Yeah, but I'm still looking for them."

It's electric... we live in the country, we're lucky it's still not wood.

That's assuming you can line up the things you want one at a time... that the odds only increase linearly. However, the odds would increase exponentially with each item added to the wish list.

I don't know if it was the first one they looked at, but I know they didn't look for long.
It's always possible that details could have been left out over the years, but I seriously doubt it. You'd have to know my mom... she doesn't exagerate.

In any case, I certainly didn't intend to start up a big debate
Like I said before, I'm not here to convince anyone... just stating what I know. I'm sure we could keep going back and forth for quite a long time

Hmm... not saying there's any significance here, but I just noticed that it's the "religious" post that got the most (all?) scrutiny. Maybe there's something inside all of us that tends toward the spritual. Maybe a nerve that gets touched that prompts us to react? Food for thought... 8)
