First off, i know this was a breach of rules, so don't everyone come in and try to defend anything because there is no arguement here,
Just a question of curiousity.
This is just a Question for tgpo

DO NOT TAKE THIS AS AN ATTACK OR ARGUMENT AT ALL!!!!!!!! I am just curious tgpo![]()
Now for the first 2 replys in this post.... you guys are sad......
1) You need a dual layer DVD Burner to use Dual Layer Discs.
2) You need to provide more info on the downloaded movie (like title and size of the file)
3) You need to fill out your profile...ie...do you have a DL Burner.
4) ....basically....need more info.
Thanks
Never knew someone had to know the name of a file to give advice on how to fix it![]()
I never even heard of limewire before... LOL!!!!!!
& i'll leave it at that.......

Yes, knowing what type of file can greatly help in figuring out how to fix it.Originally Posted by NoahtuckHis name was MackemX

The difference is that if the user owns the original, then although it isn't really a good thing that he downloaded a copy in AVI format he could concievably be allowed to, since he owns the original and it could be considered a backup. What if he needs it in AVI format, but doesn't have the knowledge or processing power to create one? I have all my DVDs in AVI format to save on DVD-Rs - I don't want to risk losing my originals to a thief at university.Originally Posted by Noahtuck
I'm not saying that downloads of copyrighted films where the user owns the original are allowed here or not (although the mods and Baldrick will decide on this at a later date) but I fail to see why it would be much of a problem.
As it turns out, the user did not have the original DVD, which is why he was trying to put it on to a DVD. It was certain to be warez.
I agree that baiting a user is pretty vicious, but tgpo did not do this.
Hope this insight is useful to you!

Aslo asking the name of the TITle may help because it can be somthing like"MOVIENAMEW.ISO/MOVIENAME.AVI/MOVIENAME.VOB there are many combinations , so seeing the whole Name/Title may help.
Many people also get fooled by Limewire and Kazaa and other P2P networks, when they ask for some kind of Payment,So many think when they Pay this "FEE" it makes it Legal to download Movies..This is a SCAM read the fine print. -

Not the format "The Name" !! you can call a video "My Video" how does that have any impact what so ever on the format or the problem at hand ??Originally Posted by Conquest10
Okay, see, this is why i stated... and i quote!!!!!

I know - I didn't say it was. Just stated a fact.
-
Ultimately, it was I who squeezed the title of the movie out of the newbie poster (?). It is I that should bear the responsibility for whatever came of it. I apologize to anyone who took issue with anything in the aforemented thread. TGPO really had nothing to do with any of this.

No, that was not my point either 8) it's not about baiting, although it is pretty lame to the one's who did do it just for the fact of doing itOriginally Posted by smearbrick1
It is what cobra actualy stated, i was wondering why tgpo asked it because it seemed like it was leading to what cobra stated
Now there was a thread before where i tried to defend someone and used the very same argument and was shot down by more than one mod saying exactly the opposite of what you just stated!!Originally Posted by Cobra
That even if you DO own the orginal and have no way to back it up it is still illegal to D/L it for back up purposes!!!
This is what i was gettting to, MAJOR contradiction!!!!!
When i have an hour to waste i'll track it down 8) -
Noahtuck - you forgot to include the very important point I made after that.
Don't try twisting what a mod says. It may be in contradiction, but you asked me for an insight and that is what you got. I offered an opinion that is my own, and not representative of VideoHelp or any other mods here.Originally Posted by I

Okay, i thought afterwards about adding that back into it, but i am not trying to twist anything, i'm saying that i used the same example before and was told it was not alright....... so my point is i wanted to see if others were saying it was, because from what i have been told it has already been decided.... because i too feel that if you own the original and have no way to back it up to avi or W/E format you should be allowed to D/L it....Originally Posted by Cobra
See, i agree with what you stated.....
I think everyone really neglected to actually read my OP :P -
Remember that the mods don't have a "playbook". Most of the calls we make are judgment calls and aren't carved in concrete for a reason. They're kept intentionally vague because there are so often extenuating circumstances.
If a mod made a call that seems to contradict what another mod says, remember that we are only human and that was that mod's interpretation of it that day. Another mod might have seen it a little differently, or the other facts might weigh differently with him. -
Fair enough.Originally Posted by Noahtuck

How about this then - I am sure the mods will read this, but I'll take it to the Mod forum and we will gain a formal position on it. I'll then PM you and let you know. -
Cool!! for real, i never D/L movies of any type because they suck anyways!!! :P and even with DSL i have better ways to waste my time then trying to D/L a 2 hour movie!!! LOL!!!Originally Posted by Cobra
It's just i stated the same thing basically as you did and was told NO!!! -
It is a funny subject, and it is often different in every situation. Mods also have slight differences, too.
I've made a thread in the Mod forum. I am sure it will go in favour of NO since downloading films is frowned upon, no matter what the circumstances are.
