  1. I have an avi file of some soccer highlights that plays normally in quicktime both audio and video. However in a Philips 642 divx player, it plays only the video. In trying to figure out why, I ran across a thread re Windows software to tell if an avi file has Q-pel and a program to convert it to an avi file not having that. I don't even know if this is my problem as to why I have no audio, but how does one determine if an avi file has Q-pel on a Mac?

It seems like ffmpegX can remove it on conversion.

If the Philips is playing the video but not the audio, that means the audio is in an unsupported format for the player ... like Ogg or AAC.

The 642 prefers your avi files to have mp3 or ac3 audio.
