    Even though my birthday is over a month away, a friend of my wife (barely above an aquaintance) gives me a 40G iPod (hp)! I know it was pretty pricey, but I'm not going to turn down a nice gift like that (for some reason, she thinks my birthday is on Valentine's Day). The wife says, "She's never given me any presents "

    I have to say, as much as I hate the commercials, this thing is absolutely fantastic! Besides playing apple formats, it plays MP3s and wavs, and also funtions as a voice recorder and portable HD.

    The coolest thing is, unlike my old 128M memory stick MP3 player, you can go above 192kbps (I max it at 320, but sometimes 256)

    Kinda makes the table saw that I want for my real birthday seem like crap. Oh well, two different uses.

    I'm getting sick of seeing those white headphones all over. What is it with the brain-dead masses? You would think the iPod was just released a few months ago.

    Its kind of hard not noticing those bright white cords. You used to never see those around here. Right after Chiristmas, POW, they're everywhere like the iPod is some new invention just released before Christmas.

    Actually the headphones that come with it (white cords)...are kickass.
    Your right though...there are alot of Ipod users around.

    I like big 70's headphones, likr the ones NAtalie Portman is using in Garden State.

    I also have in ear headphones, but I like the big 70's looking ones better.
