  1. i just got my pioneer dvr520hs from onecall.com. total with 5 year warranty was 640 bucks. sweet. got a couple of questions. i have coax from wall direct to dvr input. dvr output to cable box in. cable box coax out to tv. cable box svid and rca audio out to dvr. with this setup, i can record from the dvr tuner and then switch input on my tv and watch another station. the dvr tuner cannot pick up the digital stations , anything over ch. 99. so if i want to record a digital station, i have to switch dvr input to line 1 -tit is then picking up the digital from cable box svid output. but i cannot view another channel this way, as switching the cable box channels would ruin the recording(the dvr will record whatever i'm tuning to. my question is--if i bought a second cable box and set it up like i'm about to describe, would i be able to record digital stations while still switching channels? heres what i'm hoping will work-- coax from wall outlet will go into 2way splitter. one coax would go into a box then output to tv as normal. second box would use the svid out to dvr, thus being able to record the digital stations while letting me switch the input on tv back to main box. sounds good, but am i correct? my other question was about using vcr plus and getting an ir blaster, but i haven't even played with the editing features nor read much of the manual yet, let alone explain how to use this to the wife and kids. that's gonna be fun. lol. so i'll hold up on the 2nd question. so far, this unit is amazing. picture quality is great. onecall.com had it on sale for $539, plus they had a "hotdeals" offer where you enter "hotdeals" and get another $25 off on certain items. plus i got the 5year extended warranty. man, i love tax time. getting the panasonic pvgs250 3ccd camcorder as soon as it appears on the shelves next month. thanks in advance to anyones responses.

Yeah a second box would work fine if you have the extra input on your tv.

I have a single tuner satelite box myself (inputed to tv and my Pioneer though S-video) and I use a splitter for ota on the tv and to my Pioneer 420HS tuner so that I don't have to watch what I'm recording. Hopefully Dish will let me upgrade to a two tuner receiver in the near future.

My Pioneer 420HS was $302.00 after tax, shipping, and a 12.50 nonmember fee.(Costco.com) Its been a great addition, but I have a ton things I'm am still trying to convert to dvd from my 508 dvr and when I finally do I can put my 811 HD receiver where it belongs with my 65" HDTV Toshiba.
