  1. Hey everyone,

I have an mpg video which I converted from a vob, but now I have to put it on the web for people to see. Whats the best way in doing this to have a small file size for download but keeping quality?

    much appreciated

    Hi Silver_Ice,

The WMV format is usually recommended for putting video on the net.

Microsofts (free) Windows Movie Maker can convert to WMV. Not sure if it takes MPG as a source though... If not, you'll need to convert your MPG to an accepted input format.

I have grown fond of XVID conversion (using TMPGENC save as AVI function) in recent weeks.

I don't think WMM handles MPEG2 files (at least not for me, all I get is the audio. For WMV, I would use the free Windows Media Encoder, and use the Convert a File option.

So after converting to wmv, what about the size of the video, meaning width and height, how do i specify that?

Erm...you specify the size when you do the conversion.

If you are using Windows Media Converter, there are several presets that you can choose for size and bitrate.
