    Hi

I have an ac-3 track which is 192kbps. It has two channels, but the source is actually mono so I believe the two tracks are identical. Is there any program that can take one track (at 96kbps) and make a mono ac-3 without re-encoding the file?
If it has to re-encode I might as well use mp3, but would like to know if it is possible to do it without converting first!

    Thanks for any help

No. You don't have two AC3 audio tracks, you have one audio track with 2 channels. To split this will entail reencoding.

OK thanks. I suppose I should have said channels rather than tracks.
I'm surprised there is no way of taking one channel out of an ac-3 file and make it a mono ac-3 file without re-encoding it.
    Nevermind!
