  1. The AMD was a good choice. P4 CPUs tend to be better at video encoding, but they have many flaws and are slower in general purpose use and gaming than their AMD equivelant. They are less advanced in the respect that they have no support for 64-bit computing. They rely on Northbridge for memory controlling (AMD64 CPUs have an on-die controller) etc.

    Good choice. You won't regret it.

    Please, ensure it is a Winchester you are getting. I fell into that trap - I thought I was buying a Winchester but recieved a Newcastle. No real differences unless you are overclocking like I do - Newcastles run warmer and have a higher standard core voltage. Winchesters are refined. No speed difference.

    I actually forgot to check the core before purchasing it. From the numbers on the chip I'm pretty sure I have a Winchester. Lucky me, since I do plan on overclocking.

    Same thing happened to me, I really wasn't paying attention cause I even got a socket 754 when I wanted a 939, anyone want a 754 newcastle?

    Yes, the motherboard does support 20 pin power connector as well as a 24 pin connector without the need of an adaptor. Just ensure your PSU is capable of supplying the required power.
