    Here is my configuration:
    OS: Win 2K Pro
    CPU: Dual PIII 450 MHz
    RAM: 1 GB
    HDD: 80 GB
    CDW: LG 52x (GCE-8526B)
DVD Player (Stand alone): Malata DVD-393

    Software:
    DVD2SVCD 1.2.2 build 3
    VirtualDub 1.5.10
    Cinema Craft Encoder 5.5
    Nero Express 6.3.1.12

Trying to convert a ~40 Min AVI to SVCD.

Trying to follow the guide "DiVX (AVI) to (S)VCD using DVD2SVCD" by LeeBear Ver 1.0.

I follow the guide as appropriate (I don't have to split or edit the Avsynth Script).

I leave the audio in the AVI to 48KHz.

I use DVD2SVCD to create the MPEG file.

When I use Nero to create the SVCD, it tells me that the file is not in proper SVCD format and will have to encode it for me.

When I play the SVCD in my DVD Player, the Video is fine, but I have no Audio.

Oh, the AVI and MPEG files both play on the computer with sound.

So, what have I missed/messed up?

    TIA

I don't understand why you use the MPEG file to burn your SVCDs. DVD2SVCD will author the SVCDs for you and create bin/cue files which you then burn with Nero.

    Canadateck,

    Thanks for the quick response.

The only problem is that as a Newbie I don't know what you mean.

I went through the Virtual Dub program and re-saved the file, so I assume the audio is a separate stream..

As for the DVD Player - Malata DVD-393.

How can I find out what you want to know about the audio?

    jyn999,

As a newbie, I am just following the guide.

I figure I will try the DVD2SVCD to create the bin/cue file and then just burn it, if nero can. I just have to learn how.

    Thanks.

We were all newbies once. I just want to commend you for searching the site before posting a Help Me.

DVD2SVCD is a "set it and forget it" app. Click a few buttons to select the source and output and let it run.

I just pulled out the guide. LeeBear was using DVD2SVCD v1.09 which didn't provide the option to produce fully authored output. DVD2SVCD v1.2 and later now provides additional choices i.e. DVD , SVCD , and VCD. Select SVCD in the MISC tab and let DVD2SVCD do its business.

    Good luck.

    SUCCESS!!!!

After much more reading, and some luck with guessing....

I let AVI2SVCD create the image by selecting the VCDXBuild option. I gave the CD a Label, and guessed at a few of the other options that I didn't need.

Now I have a SVCD that Plays with Sound.

Thanks to those who responded for trying to help out.

Thanks to Baldrick for writing the Stickies in this forum that were so helpful for me.

Now it's UP UP and AWAY....
