I'd like to capture a NTSC VHS Video with the Hollywood Bridge, but get only B&W Picture. The VCR is a European JVC HS7700 which is PAL but capable wof NTSC playback. On TV everything is OK, but HW Bridge only show black&white.
When I look at the properties with my capture prog (ULEAD Mediastudio), I see, NTSC with 29,.. fps and 720x440, ie NTSC is recognized. Any hints how to get color or seems it to be impossible to get color capture with this equipment?

  2. This definitely sounds like an incorrect PAL/NTSC setting. Even if the videotape is definitely NTSC and your VCR is capable of outputting NTSC, the Dazzle DV Bridge may be defaulting to PAL which is a known "bug" with early versions of this unit. Later versions of the DV Bridge default to NTSC mode. There is no manual switch to change it between PAL<>NTSC mode, but if you first power on the VCR and press Play, then power off/on the DV Bridge it should detect the NTSC signal and switch itself to the correct setting.
Here are some links about this issue with the DV Bridge:

I tried that (power everything off, run VCR with NTSC tape (is definitive one, because I have a switchable NTSC<->PAL Converter for using my monitor as TV) then started HW Bridge and powered PC. With DVApp (a Capture program sample by DirectX) says, NTSC and every other relevant Parameter, but show only B&W.

are you using the correct drivers for the capture device??

If you aren't sure or if you leave the card into the system while installing Windows.
then you have to remove the standard multimedia video capture drivers in the save mode of Windows

PS if you are using an scart plug to an S-video cable then there will be only Black and White signal.
if this is the case then use the Composite cable.

The cable I'm using is s-video with a switch, one goes to my NTSC-PAL Converter, the other one to the HW Bridge. SO I'm sure there must be the right signal on the connection.
It could be a driver issue.I'm using Win2K with directX 8.0. What drivers must I have ?
