  1. I tried to convert my Alien versus Predator DVD to divx using Auto GK and divx 5.1 but it gets into trouble. I ripped the dvd to my hard drive using the latest version of DVDDecrypter, Smartripper, CladDVD, and VOBblanker. I ripped in IFO mode and ripped the "PGC2" of the movie. I think this is the same as Angle 2, but I am not sure. I think "PGC2" includes like 2 minutes extra that they didn't show in theaters. Anyway, I took that and tried to encode it with AUTO GK. It demuxes and indexes fine and then it analyzes the source but it doesn't get past 40% on this. My computer then restarts for no reason. I tried using XVID but the same thing happens. I also tried to encode with DVDx but that gives me some MPEG2 error.

I know that it is not a hardware problem because I have encoded almost 50 of my dvd's with no problems like this before. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone know how I can encode my DVD to divx successfully? Thanks for the help.

  3. plcpower, after using many different tools that did not work I came across SimpleDivx (the latest version). So I ran AVP with dvd decrypter in IFO mode and ripped the "PGC2" part, then I ran it through SimpleDivx and encoded it with XVID codec. The final product had video problems in the first 2 minutes of the movie. The video would run slower than normal and the audio was screwed up.
So I ignored those problems for the first 2 minutes of the movie because nothing major happens and there is no dialogue. I just adjusted the audio to sync up with the video for the rest of the movie using Virtualdub. The rest of the movie played fine. If you try it the way I did, I don't know if you will have the same problem. It's the only tool that worked for me. I thought that maybe my AVP dvd came defective. I now see that others have problems too.
