  1. Has anyone else noticed that the audio sync is off when joining two avi files? Specific example, repeated multiple times on multiple files:

I have an avi file of a TV show. There is roughly one minute of the opening scene, then the opening credits, then the rest of the episode. If I use ffmpegX to split it into three pieces, and then join the first and last (the opening scene with the rest of the episode), the rest of the episode's audio will be out of sync with the video. Looking through previous posts I saw an example of different framerates resulting in audio sync problems, but since both parts are from the same original file this should not be an issue. Any thoughts? 0.0.9s on Mac OS X 10.3.4 with a G4.

  2. The AVI format is a poor format in handling video and audio sync. Right now, splitting and then joining has issues (the problem is in the join step). I will try to use a different join method to overcome these issues. In the meantime I would suggest to use Quicktime Player to do editing.

  3. Bummer! I cannot open the .avi file in QuickTime, it claims that the "required compresssor" cannot be found. Is there some sort of 3rd party QuickTime extension that will allow me to see the file?

  4. You should install the codec from www.divx.com
