  1. i recently copied a film onto a dvd, the picture was perfect until it started jumping and stopping then starting, about half way through the film. This is how i transfered it to a dvd is there anything i can do to stop it from jumping??

i played the film on my divx player and it worked fine, i then used a program called VSO DIVX TO DVD. this converted it to VIDEO_TS, i burned it to dvd with NERO EXPRESS .

could anyone give some advice on how to stop this ???

Cheap crappy media. Get better quality media and you should be ok. That is the classic symptom of 'budget' dvd-r's. What brand did you get anyways ?

TY's are very good. Fuji's that are made in japan are also very good. Goto www.nomorecoasters.com, Lord Smurf has a very good list.

Oh, incase you're wondering what to do with the 'cheapos' you may have bought, this is what I normally advise. Anything you may want backup to these discs Shrink it to about 3.5gig using DvdShrink, and burn. Then use them as givaways to your kids, nephews, whatever. Gets rid of the discs, keeps the recipients happy, and they won't be any the wiser. Incase you didn't realise, the pixelating starts about 4gig give or take. Stick to 3.5gig and on a normal TV you can't tell the difference. The 'good/branded' discs will take full capacity without pixelating. Thats what mainly distinguishes the two.
As what to buy, depends on where you are and what you have access to.
As someone mentioned TY's are supposed to the best, and you guys in the states can get them dirt cheap (don't understand why anyone in the USA would buy a cheapo brand with the prices available to you guys), but generally get the best brand you can, TDK, Maxell, etc.

I have used TDK's, Fuji's and Memorex. WIth great success on my Lite-on 411s. Generally any name brands will be fine.

Another great resource is right here on this site https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia
