  1. Hello there,
I am the happy (or I thought to be happy) owner of an LG GSA-4081B DVD burner, that, after implemented version GSA4081_A104.exe of firmware, has burned lots of DVD's both +R and -R of various brands without a problem.
Now I noticed the following: when playing on my standalone DVD player 3 DVD's (2 authorized from videos shooted with my videocamera and 1 is a copy of a film of which I own the original), about at the end of the disk (each of the three being 2 h (or so) of duration) I got problems.
Note: 2 DVD's from my videocamera been burned using TMPGEnc and copy of DVD movie been burned using Nero.
Problems being: with DVD's from my videocamera, the impossibility to access directly chapters 20 and 21 (out of 21 chapters), and even when "trying" to play last chapters (starting from, let's say, chapter 19), DVD player sort of "played" but freezing images and having lots of difficulties to progress any further.
Same problem of freezing images and lots of difficulties to progress any further about the end of my copy of DVD movie.
Has anybody ever experienced a phenomenon like that?
Is is possible that my GSA-4081B burner has deteriorated in a way that when burning at about the end of the disk, it burns "badly"?
What do the "freezing" pictures depend from?
Simply random errors written by burner or a burner that is about to break down?
And if so, is it typical that when a DVD burner is about to break down, is strats failing to write at the end of a 2 h disk?
    Thanks so much.

Classic example of poor quality media. It isn't the burner, it's the disks you're using.

2h disc is same as 1h disc! In both cases it can be burnt to the edge.

I have 4081 and had many discs just like yours - skipping and freezing and not only in the last minutes. I also tried burning only up to about 3.7GB - still it was the same. That was to be specific using Princo and CMC media (not) played on Samsung plyaer. Same discs play in different brand (Victor) just fine though.
So our burner is not the best but I don't think your's is dying.
Now I burn only TDK (generally TY) and no problem on my personal DVD player.
So your movies might have better compability played on different player but try to change the media with better one. I learnt that trying to save few cents actually leads to more expences and big frustration.
