  1. Why would this happen?

  2. Lots of reasons. Here's what to try instead:

    I. cut w/ bbMPEG (see Edit section to left)
    1) Demux MPEG in TMPGenc "File | MPEG Tools", choose "simple demux. This will create a video (m1v or m2v) file and an audio file (mp2).
    2) Cut w/ bbMPEG

II. assuming you encoded with TMPGenc to start with. Encode source to two MPEGs. You can select start/stop points for you encode using the source range option. Click on settings | advance. Then double click source range.
Choose your stop/start points. Encode, then choose 2nd 1/2 and encode again.

If you want, you can batch encode both. Choose file | save project. Give it a name. Then give the 2nd 1/2 a diffent project name (and output file name). Then choose file | batch encode. Add both projects and hit run.

I often use batch encode to set up multiple encodes before I go to school/work and/or bed. Fairly handy.

Hope one of these helps you
