  1. I'm using a capture card to capture to VHS. I'm using a normal cable wire hook into my vcr to the card in my PC. Will I better quality movies using a DV converter with AV cables going from my VCR?

I take it you are revisiting this:

As you saw then (and on any random search of forum threads), people have different opinions of what results they can get from different equipment. I have my own set up which I have my VCR connected to a Canopus ADVC-50. I love the ADVC-50 and am really happy with the results. Others on this site prefer to use other capture cards.

The bottom line is, are you happy with what results you are getting at the moment, or do you feel that you need to invest a bit of time and effort (and money!) into upgrading your set up?

Do a search on all forums for "ADVC" and see what the consensus of opinion is as this may help you make up your mind.

Hope this is of some help.

PAL users have excellent results with DV converters in general.

For VHS sources, that might be an overkill (sometimes). IMO, even a typical old fashion bt8xx card is OK for capturing VHS. The hard way that is...
