1 - The "ADS DVD Xpress USB 2.0 Video Capture Device" looks nice.
As long as it has same capturing abilities as the "ADS Instant DVD 2.0" it looks like a good deal. I don't need the outputs the instant DVD 2.0 has and it just makes it cost more.

2- Compro VideoMate Live USB 2.0?
I haven't read good stuff about the cheaper Plextor boxes so I'm probably going to avoid those.

AFIK, the full retail price at retail stores is $99-us. On occasion there will be a $50 rebate from ADS for a final cost of $49-us. At that price I think it is a good value.
The link you posted shows $89 after $20 rebate from an inflated start price IMO.
I got my Compro usb VideoMate Live from newegg for $120=us.
While it worked it was excellent very comperable to the ADS IDVD-2 with the added tv tuner and pvr software. It just quit being reconized by xp and tech support said to disconect it and power off the power on again and connect. Most of the time this works until next time I want to use it.
Makes using scheduled captures near impossible.
Maybe I just got a dud, something about my system or the fact that like the IDVD-2 once I set it up, it stayed on all the time. I did do over 200 hrs of Olympics
