Is it a good idea to * always * run DivFix on AVI before trying to convert it?
Can this any harm if it is not actually needed?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

Don't know. But my suspicion would be the less you mess with a file during conversion the better. Just let it be.

They say you should make a back up file before you use divfix.

DivFix makes a backup. Actually, it doesn't touch the original.

Correct, the new AVI is 'divfix.whatever.avi'.
However, should I * always * run it or only when needed? If the later, what test should I use to determine if required?

    TIA.
