Hey guys, I have been working on this problem for a week now and can't seem to come up with anything. First here is what I have and am using:

-Windows XP
-HP Laptop/1.3GHZ, 512 SDRAM
-Adaptec Fireconnect for notebooks
-Sony Handycam DCR-HC20 DV Camcorder
-Ulead Videostudio 8SE/Windows Movie Maker

The problem I am having is that the computer recognizes the camera and is listed in device manager and both software programs but it will not let me capture.

It locks up both Ulead and Windows Moviemaker everytime I try and capture. Here are the things I have tried so far:

-Changing to a different PCM card with the same results
-Borrowed a friends JVC DV Camcorder and the same thing happens
-Uninstalling and Reloading the 1394 Host Controllers Drivers from the rescue CD
-Reinstalling the hardware many times

Now the Adaptec PCM card did not come with any CD for drivers or anything like that. There are NO explanation marks in the device manager for the card but what I did notice is that there is no listing like Adaptec or anything of the sort for the card in the device manager. All that is under 1394 Bus IEEE Host Controllers is NEC OHCI Compliant IEEE Host Controller and VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE Host Controller. Under PCMCIA adapters I get ENE CB1410 Cardbus Controller??? Sony or Adaptec do not have any driver updates for my camcorder of PCM card.

Can any give me some advice on what to look for or something I am overlooking??? TIA!
