We remember, that we promise 5 times faster version, but this release only 2.5 times faster (we work on lossless compression too). Now we will make it faster again!

    Enjoj!

Please mail us if any problem!

i was able to crash virtualdubMOD everytime with a standard 2048x2048 image size and either (or both) the sharpen filter and deblock filter ...

avi was huffyuv, compression was to huffyuv (i tried a mpeg2 input and mjpeg output also) .. other filters i tried worked fine ..
1980x1080 did not seem to crash it as much (it used to i thought) .

v-dub would just close most of the time - so i couldnt get a error report ..

    machine is a P4 2.66 with 1.5gb of memory ..
not overclocked ... very very stable system ..

i tried this also last year on a dual xeon and same problem ..

How do you call a compression algorithm lossless? Isn't that the very nature of compression; to remove things that aren't noticible thus creating a smaller file?

    not always

zip, rar, lzw, huffman, Burrows, Wheeler and run length are examples of lossless compression ....

We reproduce bug with Deblocking! Thanks! Waiting for update.

But we cannot reproduce bug with sharpen...
2048x2048, huffyuv in, huffyuv out, old sharpen, new sharpen (will be released soon). VDMOD (1.5.10.1 build 2366), VDMOD (1.5.10.1 build 2439), ordinary VD. No crashes...

New sharpen will be 6-8 times faster, so it's resonable waiting for it and try new version!

    Thanks for good report again!

I experienced VDub crashes with the 2.0 deblocking filter as well. It only crashed if I had the V or U enhancements checked. Worked ok if these were not selected.

Couple of questions about deblocking filter. Will it work with an MPEG2 source file? Does the filter work pre or post compression in VDub? I tried up to 4 sequential loads of the deblocking filter in VDub and could not see any change in blockiness of a low bitrate MPEG2 file.

    Thanks.

Very unstable under both VirtualDub and VirtualDubMod. I was getting crashes when trying to launch the preview window. Every time I hit preview, VirtualDub bombed.
