SP2 turns firewall ON by default.

    check your firewall settings.

i couldn't access the net using firefox browser until i had to allow it access through the firewall settings.

What date are you trying to restore to and do you have Norton installed?

Sometimes Norton can interfere with system restore.

    What date would that be.

The restore points only go back a month.

  8. I've got restore points from about 6 months ago. It all depends on how much drive space you allocate to system restore.

Isn't that from using the recovery CD (or DVD) ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
