Hi Boldy and welcome.
Its sounds as simple as using a disk copy program, but tell us a bit more about what you want to do? Do you want exact copys of what the photographer gave you? Do you want to get the photos off the disk and use them differently?
The first step is finding out what kind of disk you have, is it a vcd, a kodac picture disk?, is it a DVD. Try opening your disk with windows explorer and report back what files and folders you find in the root directory.Have a nice Day -
Most likely you can just copy the images from CD to HD. Be aware those images can be digitally watermarked and digitally tagged as copyrighted. I'd look around for a photographer that will waive the copyright, most will for an additional price. At least that's what there starting to do in my neck of the woods.

Normally the CDs created by the photographers / studio peolpe are ordinary data CD with 2/3 folders on the disk. There is a small software on the disk whihc will play the files as a slideshow when you insert the CD. One CD may contain images from more than one film. One of the folders on the disk actually contain the images in jpeg format. You can simply copy the files to your hard disk using windows explorer.
To make an exact copy of the disk use the "copy disk" option of the burning software you are using. Use Nero Burning ROM if presently you dont have any. -
i thought that the copy disc in nero only copied music didn't know about pics.

You don't need to copy disc, just pop it in your drive, and eplore it in my computer. Find the files, select them, selct copy then paste them somewhere on your HD. That is if they are image files such as JPG's.

could you give me a breif on what other formats they could be in, also what if they are in kodak cd how do i copy that, just have a lot of family and would like to give them a copy of the disk as a reinder of our big day.

<sigh>
There's anyone of many formats they *could" be in. Just look around the disk, use thumbnail as the view.

Body, could you open the disk in mycomputer (usually in the top left corner of the screen) and tell us what files and folders you see.

boldy,
The "copy disk" option can be used to copy any disk. be data, audio or video. It doesnt matter. So in your case if you want to distribute the disk as it is then you can simply use the "disk copy" option to make as many copies as you like and distribute to your friends and relatives.
However if you want to copy the images stored on your CD to your hard disk. You can do so very easily using Windows Explorer. The stored images on your hard disk can be easily viewed by double clicking on them. A very good image viewer is "Irfanview". -

boldy,
You can use the WinXP built-in feature for writing files to a CD. The disk created will be a plane and simple data disk with all your pictures. However, it will not be same as a "Kodak Photo CD" OR like any other "Picture CD" created at the studios. The diff is not much. Kodak CDs or similar Picture CD are also data disks PLUS some additional software to view the pictures stored on the disk. When you inset such a disk in your drive the s/w will automatically start and show your pictures as a slide show. (as I had mentioned earlier in ths post).
The CD created with WinXP CD writing feature will not "Auto Run" in this fashion.
