    Hello everybody,

A long time since I posted a message, everything went OK with my encodings until I came accross this issue.

I made a lot of DVD's for my own footage, encoded it with Tmpg or CCE then used Ulead DVD moviefactory for the authoring.

On some DVD's, at random locations in the movie, playback is momentarily interrupted : screen goes black, then a blink of an eye later, it resumes. Random because it occurs at different places in different movies but in the same movie systematically at the same place. I even tried different media, +R, -R, +RW, -RW, different brands but that didn't change anything.

This issue does not occur on my JVC player but since I largely distribute my productions, it occurs on almost every other player : philips, panasonic, sony...

Did one of you come across this issue too ? and how to overcome it ?

    thanks a lot in advance

  2. How do you Author. Do you use multiple clips and let the authoring package join them together, or do you have one large movie?

    Hello Bugster,

    Thanks for your reply.

I author several different clips, one that autoruns when the disc is inserted, then a menu screen appears with 6 differents short clips to run (length from 4 to 15 minutes) from. When one clip is finished the menu returns.

The bug occurs in one of these 6 clips, always at the same place in the clip. Note that I viewed the mpeg2 file on my pc and it plays flawlessly without any bug (so I excluded the encoding being the source of the bug).

I guess also that it has nothing to do with the media nor with the brands. Maybe it is just an authoring bug?

    Best regards

  4. It could be a media bug, or it could be a video bug, or it could be an audio bug.
Just because it plays on the computer, does NOT guarantee it will play in your standalone.

I agree with reboot in that playing it on a PC does not prove much if anything. It is possible, or even likley that this clip is flawed in some way that a PC player can skip over but a stndards compliant DVD player cannnot. All I can suggest is that you go back to your source file for the faulty clip and check it carefully.
The problem isn't near an edit point by any chance?

    Hello,

As a matter of fact, the point in question is where I inserted a static image just after some regular video footage. It could be that my editing software (Canopus EZDV) didn't handle correctly this passage.

I'll try to modify this somehow

    Anyway thanks for the hint
