  1. I've encoded an .avi file in TMPGEnc and taken the audio out with VirtualDub ...

The .m2v file and .wav files both look and sound great when i run them on my HardDrive, but when i author them in DVD-Lab, the film runs fast and slow ?!

I've tried using 'Main' and 'Alternative' Authoring methods, but get the same effect.

    Any ideas ?

  2. Then something is wrong with the video and/or audio. DVDLab does not do anything to the video stream.
Your software player will play MANY things that a standalone player won't.
I suspect it's a PAL/NTSC conversion problem, but without more details...

First, in TMPEnc go to the settings dialog dox and select the "GOP" tab. In there you should find a checkbox for "Output bitstream for editing (closed GOP)". Make sure it is checked, this will make sure each GOP is properly formed as it closes each one. I ALWAYS use this setting. When you create your output go ahead and make a MPG (video+audio), audio really dosn't need to be more than 224Kbit for stereo. Play it and make sure everything is in sync. Make sure you test all the way through the file. Another check is to skip around in the file and make sure everything stays in sync. If it is, use TMPEnc MPG Tools and demux (split video and audio into m2v and mpa files). Use these files to author with DVDLab. Everything should be OK from there.
