IDE / BIOS CONFIG for DVD WRITER

I think I may have my DVD writer and CD ROM Set up wrong. Maybe
even the jumpers on the back of the devices.

Can anyone tell me how they should be set up.

I cant burn DVDR-RW but can burn CDR-RW.
Could it be a cable problem, SP2, or computer.

Can anyone help, I am getting desperate.

If you can successfully burn a CD with it, it ain't a configuration problem. My Plextor DVD Writer did a very similar thing. It was broke and I had to send it back....

In My computer / Devices, as soon as I place a DVDR-RW in the drive
the heading changes to CD Drive and will not regonise any DVDR-RW,
but will play DVD disks, films, and data.

I did a check with Nero Tools. It did a speed check, no problem, it
recognised my DVDR-RW drive and that I had a DVDRW disk in the
drive which was empty.

Any ideas ?????
