  1. Just bought a Philips 642. However I'm not able to setup progressive scan.

*I've got 29" Sony Wega KV-XR29M83/53 that supports component input
*Connected all 5 cables YPbPr and Audio L/R
*In Video Setup I chose YPbPr
*Now when I try to choose progressive scan OK the scree begins to flicker. I had to wait for 15 sec to auto recover.
*I tried again with a new set of cables (just in case).. still no help...
*I tried to setup with disc out and disc in ... didnt work

Is there anything that I'm missing out...

    Edit 02/07/2005

Somebody told me that progressive scan is disk dependent. Is it true?

  2. I can finally post. been waiting two days to answer this.

I HAD a very similar problem that is hopefully the same solution as yours. My 480p componant in connection on the back of my TV is on channel AV4. To utilize progressive scan make sure that you have a 480p connection, not just a component in. The component in is not enough to run a progessive signal. Please post back whether it is indeed a 480p capable connection or not. If it is, I can tell you how to fix your problem..

According to this page, you TV does NOT support 'DVD Progressive Input' or 'DRC Progressive Mode' (whatever that is), so you're probably out of luck...
