Can you store your DVDs in the Slimline CD cases Safely??(The ones like Wal Mart sell, 50 pk,?)

The one thing to keep in mind is that DVD's are made of layers. The data and reflective layer are sandwiched between to layers of plastic (at least, that is the standard). I have read that if to much stress is applied at the hub, it can, over time, cause warping and splitting of the layers and damage the disc.
the disc should be held snug, but not cause the disc to flex/bend when trying to remove. Sorry I can not be of more specific help.Some people say dog is mans best friend. I say that man is dog's best slave... At least that is what my dogs think. -
I store all the backups of my original DVDs in slim line cases with no problems.
Less expensive and you can tell its a backup right off the shelf.

Been doing it since I started VCDs and now DVDs, no problems here. I've found them pretty easy to remove. Some factory DVD cases hold the DVD so tight you can't help but bend the DVD somewhat while removing. I'm not talking about aftermarket either but original cases.
