  1. This has happened over here and yes, Cap, it did stick ! The police were illegally parked and the evidence gathered was considered inadmissable.

If it works like it does in the private sector, the offender, plus all the people he caught had their tickets shredded.

I have trouble with the whole police setting traps thing. Being visable is what they should be doing in order to prevent crime. I think that there are rules about speed traps where the officer has to be visable for a set amount of distance. (granted, high rates of speed close that gap quickly, but still) and this may only be true in certian areas. And to set up in a situation that could cause a distraction to drivers in a potentionaly dangerous spot on the road should be criminal. I have gone into semi blind curves before, only to find that the guy in front of me is hitting his brakes because a cop with a radar gun is clocking people there.

On a side note, my first ever speeding ticket was 39 in a 35 zone. I was in disbeleif. I told the cop that I could probally argue that the accuracy of the radar unit wasn't that tight and win. He agreed but said it would be a whole lot cheaper and easier just to pay the ticket. I told him that I had entered the road between his trap and the speed limit sign and that technically I had not ever even seen the face of the sign. Again he agreed and said that it would still be cheaper and easier just to pay the ticket.

He told me that I could loose a whole days work because court starts at 9:00 and you have to be there before that to sign in. And court doesn't really start rolling until about 1:00 because of the day befores' backup, and I might even get backed up to the next day. I was getting pissed off! And he knew it and thought it was funny. He had me, what else could I do? There is no way to win, so I went to the cop shop to pay the ticket. The ticket was only like $12.50 plus $5.00 teller fee! I am like WTF? If the cop would have told me the hole thing was going to be under $20.00 I would have given him $50.00 just to get the hell out of my face!

I still get revenge on that cop though. Every time that I go by his trap I slow down to a crawl and back up the cars behind me to prevent him from giving at least any of them tickets. He just smiles and lowers his radar gun until the procession passes and then sets up for the next sucker.
IS IT SUPPOSED TO SMOKE LIKE THAT?
