  2. Look at my post regarding my Pioneer 108.
I have the same problem with my burner, I only
    bought it last month.

I think it is a conputer software/driver problem.

Can you still burn with it? It doesn't really matter what windows calls it as long as your burning app can see it.

  4. No, I cannot burn any DVDR-RW.

In my Computer it shows Total Space 0 Free Space 0.
I just updated my ASPI Drivers, that did not help. Nero recognises my
drive and the DVDRW in the drive, and that the dist is empty, and 4.7 gig
free space. When I went to burn a movie image, the guide at the bottom
on Nero shows that the free space is only that of CDR so will not burn.

    Any suggestions

Sounds like its a problem with your ide controller drivers or an old version of Nero. Could you tell us what version of firmware you have on your drive along with Version of Nero and motherboard chipset?

  6. Download DVDInfoPro or Nero Infotool, etc. and see if those programs see the drive as being a capable of burning DVDs or not.

  7. I have latest Nero 6.6 downloaded last night. I updates to Firmware
1.18 from the pioneer website on Sunday. I have checked my ASPI drivers I've deleted all burning software except Nero in case of conflict.
Nero Tools sees my Drive and tells me I have a black DVD RW disk
in the drive which 4.70 gig free space.

In my computer when I place DVDR-RW in the drive it changes to CD
    Drive not DVDRW drive.

When you say Ide problem can you explain due to my limited knowledge.

    Thanks

  9. Our problems are bothe the same.

Therefore I would have thought any info that is given would assist both
    of us.

If I am wrong I apologise.

  10. It's all good ReSpEcT... Good luck to you both! I wish I could help.

Maybe buy a new DVD burner (with a good return policy)... see if that works and take it back (get your money back) after you check it.

    Again... good luck!

I am having the same type problem with 3 different burners. I know that it software or driver related as they all work properly when put in external boxes.
Using a BartPe with the nero plug-in they work as internal

I did a clean install of win xp home and still had problems

Still looking for solution, but workaround was/is, for me, an external box

Did you set it for master/slave properly? (Try to avoid using auto).

Also, are you running any emulation software? (like Daemon, or an image mounted in alchohol)?

This happens to me, (shows up as CD-Rom with a blank DVD inserted), however, It's never effected my ability to burn a disc, either.

  15. I would reinstall the driver. What you can do is uninstall the IDE controller in device manager. Reboot the machine and let windows reinstall the device. Maybe something got hosed with the driver.

  17. I SOLVED MY PROBLEM
I emailed Pioneer Europe direct. After 2 or 3 e-mails back and forth
they told me that my drive was OK. I had probably, at some time loaded
Roxio Easy CD Creator, and this had left something on my system that
    was causing the problem.

I downloaded a file from Roxio called Roxizap, its a small zip file. I ran
on my computer and everything is fine. I did purchase a A08, but I have
put my A05 in as well and they both work fine.

I now runb Spyware blaster and Windows Registry Mechanic on start up.
You would not beleive the crap Registry mechanic found on deep scan.
Over 500 errors, most were not problems, but some were driver problems. It fixed them all.

    Hope this helps.

    Good luck
