Try getting the latest version of something before asking a question. Latest DVD Decrypter rips new protections just fine.

  8. Sorry to jump in here...
I have the latest of DVDDecrypter and Shrink and I didn't get it to work.

DVDDecrypter, ripped it but got an I/O error, which I ignored and then when I tried to bring it into Shrink or CloneDVD they wouldn't see it as a "movie".

So trying AnyDVD right now. Not sure if I am using it right though(usually just use decrypter). I set all of options, closed and am in the process of just doing a straight copy of the VIDEO_TS file from disc to hdd.
Is that the correct way? It is "decrypting" in the background as it copies, right?

    DingoAce:

If you have the latest Decrypter, and a non-retrograde system, you won't get any IO errors.

  10. Yeah, might be the machine not the software...I have been able to "fudge" other dvds(like RE2, The Forgotten and Little Black Book), by using multiple tools, so I should be able to figure out the combo on how to do this one

  11. Tried to backup with decrypter and shrink in the file mode. Came out with 2 minutes of black screen in the the beginning and this was movie only. Brand new computer with a gig of ram. I don't think its the computer. Friend tried any dvd + shrink and had a perfect full movie backup

In DVD Decrypter go to "Tools", then "Settings", then in the "I/O" tab, make sure "Ignore Read Errors" is checked. Rip the DVD with Decrypter, then use DVD Shrink, then burn with Decrypter.

I backed-up The Grudge yesterday without a problem.

  13. i used the latest version of dvd decrypter to rip, then dvd shrink, then instant copy to burn. i too noticed that the beginning of the backed up copy is blank for several minutes. this can be bypassed by skipping to the second chapter then rewinding to the beginning of the movie, but what a pain in the a$$. i noticed the problem even before burning. when the movie is open in dvd shrink, when you press play to preview, you get the blank screen. i will try the other suggestions mentioned, but just thought i'd share my frustration.

    same problem with 'the forgotten.'

Just wanted to add my 2 cents.
I had the same problem with this as everyone else.
Did a search on here and found all the answers I needed (some I didn't).
Anyways this is what I did:

DVD Decrypter (latest version): ripped the files
VOB Blanker: to remove the blank part
    DVD Shrink: made ISO
    DVD Decrypter: Burn to DVD-R

I know the shrink part was alittle extra but that's my method.

Thanks for all the help EVERYONE!!!

  16. Hey DingoAce10,

How did you copy The Forgotten? I can't seem to backup DVDs that allow you to view the movie in Theatrical or Extended Edition on the same DVD.

Go to Decrypter and go to Settings, the ones that worked for me was to uncheck Check Structure Protection in the General tab and Detect Mastering Errors in the CSS tab. Processed through VOB Blanker to remove unwanted parts and played theatrical and extended fine.

  19. Because AnyDVD removes the Sony ARccOS protection before your ripper sees the files, and thus the ripper doesn't have to deal / choke on the encryption.

AnyDVD works wonders with rippers that do not include encryption removal.
