  1. I had a Pioneer 105 for two years with no problems.
Last November it stopped burning DVD's, would only burn CDR-RW. After checking everything I could I came
to the conclusion that maybe the lens had gone.

InJanuary I bought a new 108. Burns CD-CDRW no problem. Plays DVDR no problem, but will not Burn
DVDR-RW. I tried Pioneers own discs and Ritek GO4.

I'm not very good at this. I removed all the burning software I had tried. Alcohol 120, Nero, DVD Decyptor and DVD Santa.

I downloaded the latest Nero 6 and tried again, no luck. I have noticed that in My Computer screen, it shows the device as DVD-RW Drive. As soon as place DVDR/RW in the Drive it Changes to CD Drive.

I have tried removing SP2, uninstalling the drive
anddifferent discs. Could it have anything to do with the drivers. I beleive that you should have ASPI drivers installed, but I cant find any other than those that come with Nero and Acoustica MP3.

Am I being stupid or have missed something.

    Thanks

The good news is I've seen this before, discussed on this very forum. And it was fixed.

The bad news is I do not remember the solution, nor when or who posted about it.

  5. I have never heard of this driver.

I checked Microsoft which links to Adaptec.
On Adaptecit shows ASPI for Windows XP.

I am going to download the latest package dated 2002 as it comeswith a ASPI check download. I will probably load it to see what happens. If it
goes wrong I will do a system restore.

    Thanks.
