Hello!
I am really in need of some clips made with Canon XM2 camera to see how well it takes different situations and places, so if you could give me some or point me to some, would be extremely nice! It seems like we are about to buy one in near future... By the way, how do you rate its capabilities in dark and do you think the material filmed with this cam would be acceptable by local TV stations to show in the daily news for example?
Thanks!!
Georg

Yeah, well the price is also killed by that
But I believe that there cannot be such a big difference in picture... the XM2 isn't that bad I think.

HUGE diff. in picture quality .. but the XM2 is good (and 1/2 the price) ..
TV stations use them - yes (and woudl not have any problem with clips from one) . But if you look to the future - the Z1 is the way to go right now as it can do both extermly good SD as well as HD on minidv tapes .."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
XM2 is the PAL equvalant to the NTSC GL2 I believe.... There's some screenshots here, I will be uploading some similar footage to the screenshots shortly.... So if your on cable warm it up....

Here's a link to some converted WMV, note that the audio clips. It's mentioned in my first clip, the auto level function for the audio doesn't perform very well under extreme conditions.

Hi,
XM2 is an older model, but it makes a good picture and gets good comments from its users so it seems to be one of the best options for us as we want to get a camera for a real good price. By the way, does someone know any other places than Ebay where I could get a used XM2 for a cheaper price?
Thanks! -
you are in Estonia , so not really sure ...

That's not a problem as most of the sellers ship at least Europe-wide. Any idea in Europe?

Hi Georg Liigand,
I know you mentioned "other than eBay", but this auction is currently at an excellent price (GBP 750), with just under 5 days to go...

Yea thanks guys, I didn't know there's a separate Ebay in UK and AU too!!
Daamon: Yep, I saw that already, but it is currently at a real good price and the only thing to do is to hope it won't go up too much anymore. I am not very experienced in Ebay so I don't know whether there is usually some competition when auctions end or something like that. -
al the bidding will be inthe last 5 seconds generally (true) , it makes it a pain on ebay ..
there is even software that will do it for you -- its called snipping"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
By the way, do you know if its allowed to post a note to this forum that I am looking for a used XM2 or is there any other good large forum where I could post my request?
Thanks. -
